Under severe conditions, water may enter through the driver's window and reach the window switch, causing smoke, melting, and fire.


We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; water may reach the power window switch. Please contact your Honda dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.


Under severe conditions, water may enter through the driver's window and reach the master power window switch, causing overheating and possible failure of the switch. Smoke, melting, and fire could result from the overheating. Dealers will inspect the switch and install a cover around the switch to prevent water entry. The switch will be replaced if damaged and a cover will be installed. The recall began March 19, 2010. The Honda recall number is R28.

Summary: HONDA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2008 FIT VEHICLES. UNDER SEVERE CONDITION, WATER MAY ENTER THE DRIVER'S WINDOW AND REACH THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH. IF THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH IS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE WATER INTRUSION, OVERHEATING AND FAILURE OF THE SWITCH MAY RESULT.

Consequence: AN OVERHEATED SWITCH CAN CAUSE SMOKE, MELTING AND FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE SWITCH AND INSTALL A COVER AROUND THE SWITCH HOUSING TO PREVENT WATER FROM ENTERING THE SWITCH. IF THE SWITCH IS DAMAGED, THE SWITCH WILL BE REPLACED AND A COVER WILL BE INSTALLED. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON DURING MARCH 19, 2010.
