Honda recalled certain 2006 Civic models for improper installation and mounting of the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal may become detached from its mounting, causing the throttle to stick, which can create a potential safety hazard. Dealers will reset the accelerator pedal or replace the whole assembly free of charge.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 25,298
Summary: CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE PEDAL WERE NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED AND MAY COME LOOSE AT THE FLOOR MOUNTING.
Consequence: IF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS NOT INSERTED PROPERLY, THE PEDAL CAN COME LOOSE FROM THE PEDAL STOPPER CAUSING THE THROTTLE TO BECOME STUCK INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL RESET THE PEDAL OR REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 14, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.
