high idle on 1990 Jeep Cherokee

after warm up engine will not kick down . vehicle hard to stop with such a high idle

Sounds like an issue with the idle air control and/or a gummed up/dirty throttle body. Get your jeep to a service faciltiy and have it checked.

would this have any thing to with my rpm ,oil press, fuel,and temp guages not working the only guage working is mph any sugesstions

IF YOU FIND OUT PLEASE LET ME KNOW. SAME PROBLEMB WITH MINE. I HAVE 8 INCHES OF LIFT AND 35'S AND IT IS HARD TO STOP IT! mknupp77@bellsouth.net

If the intake manifold is not tighten correctly, would this cause the exhaust manifold to turn red hot. Would it also cause the engine to run at a high rpm.
the engine on my jeep cherokee will just quit, at various speeds and anywhere from 10 seconds to 1/2 hour after restarting - it always starts right back up. Idling is ok and it runs fine at speed....
smoking bad and idling alittle high
