2000 GMC Jimmy

Question: Help with Knock Sensor code jimmy 4x4.

Rookie

Hey guys, i just replaced my clutch, slave, and had my flywheel turned. Bolted everything back up and jimmy drives like brand new, however i just got a check engine light and went up to autozone to have it checked and the guy there said it was my knock sensor. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Master

the knosk sensor is above your starter, you either unplugged it and forgot to replace or poss. you broke it. very easy to do either

Understand something a parts store counter person is exactly that. They sell parts. They are not an automobile technician. As Globalhelper has stated before, a code that calls out a part doesn't mean you just replace it. You need to do diagnostics first to confirm what is bad in that system.
The point I'm trying to make is don't let a parts counter person let you sell something that you may not need. Get the actual P code so we can help you more.
The right location is not by the starter. It's on the back of rear top of the engine block, drivers side. But it is an easy sensor to break.

Ok. ill take a look and see if i can find it, what i thought was kinda weird was when we finally got the tranny in and bolted up and everything was done, i started up the jimmy and it sounded great, i did a test drive and made sure i was not leaking anything then drove it home and did a test drive with my wife and than later that day drove my mother in law with it and no check engine light. It wasnt until the next day that i was driving when it popped which is whats confusing me ya know.
