Question: Heater not working

 Rookie

My heater does not work. It does at times but then stops.
Someone told me to flush my radiator, will this work ?
Its on and off.The fan blows cold air even when i chose the hot indicator.Its winter now please help. Its a Glx executive

    Does the fan cut in and out or is it the temp cutting in and out? as per your description.
    Is resistance felt when pulling the heater control tab from hot to cold? If not check the heater valve in the engine bay (follow the two 1" thick coolant hoses coming from the firewall, a black plastic block is attached to one of them) is being actuated when a friend operates the temperature tab. If heater valve is OK, remove and check cable linkage.
    Is your coolant full?

    Flushing the radiator is the very last avenue to attempt

    the fan does not cut out.it just blows cold air sometimes.
    i think i must try to flush the radiator and also put coolent rather than water in that small bottle next to the radiator.thanks i think this will work will try it later and give you feedback
