Many things can cause a heater failure, it is best to do an inspection of the Climate Control System in the vehicle. There is a computer that controls this system and it will have codes to help solve the mystery. here are some shops: http://repairpal.com/directory?address=27407&car_brand_names=Mercedes-Benz

if the fan doesnt blow it probably needs a new blower and regulator. if it blows cold it probably needs a heater control valve near the windshield wiper motor.

Make sure the coolant system is working properly and the trans oil is not mixing with the freeon.
