Headlights turning off on 1997 Buick LeSabre

I was wondering does anyone know what might make my headlights turn off going down the road when I go under any bright street light or if I go into a fast food drive thru that has a bright light

There is a delay timer as part of the automatic headlights on your 1997 Buick LeSabre. The timer may be set at the minimum delay. The minimum setting will cause the automatic headlights to react quickly to any changes in the available light. Try adjusting the delay - if that does not help then the photo cell (light sensor) or the control module could be at fault.
