finished working on a friends car...started mine and proceeded to drive away. he promptly called me to tell me that my taillights just quit working. i have headlights but nothing else as far as exterior wiring. so basically i have brake lights and headlights.no taillights or parking lights....everything else works as supposed to...
i insert a new 10a fuse and as soon as i turn on the headlight switch it blows...iv attempted to trace out the visible grounds and only have the hidden ones (ie behind dash) left...does anyone have any idea on what the cause could be or how to fix or bypass headlight switch altoghter...
Thanks

it's not a ground problem, it's a short from power to ground. Look for a shorted bulb or socket. In bulbs and sockets OK, check wiring. Look for a pinched or skinned wire shorting to the body metal. the dash lights and running lights usually run off the same fuse so it could be s short anywhere the running lights or dash light wiring is located.

i actually found the problem...i retraced my steps from the night before...it ended up being the dimmer wire coming out of the stock radio harness. i think its orange and white. well the tip if the ware come untaped and was pinched between the radio bracket and the radio. taped it up and no more problems out of it. except that my dash lights flicker and turn off....if i push the dimmer switch they come on temporarily...ive changed the dimmer switch to only have the same problem.
is this sumthing to worry about of is it just a nuisance?
