I turned head lights completely "off" to no avail. Interior lights worked. Automatic door locks/unlock would not work. A good Samaratin rescued me. After recharging by running motor for 20 minutes, no more problems yet. However, I am concerned about this happening again when there is no one around to help. What should I ask a mechanic to look for?

Just explain the issue to your mechanic that he might be able to trace it. If it is not an issue at that time, they might not be able to trace it. Either you could disconnect the battery or have a disconnect switch installed just in case it happens during non business hours.
