Hazard lights stuck on on 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback

My hazard lights on my Outback are stuck on and when I pull the fuse the turn signals won't work, what could it be?

If you recently replaced your battery you need to disconnect the battery again, put the key in the ignition and turn to on (not start) then reconnect the battery. This was a discovery I made after replacing my battery.

I did just replace the battery and what you suggested fixed the problem, thanks.

It sounds like the hazard switch has failed or is sticking.Try spraying some of that "key board" cleaner you get at Radio Shack or Office supply store, its an electrical contact cleaner that air drys, leaves no residue and doesn't harm plastics or electrical circuits. Press the hazard switch in and out while spraying the cleaner into the switch and see if that helps. Often just a little build up of dust or dirt causes them to stick.
