short of putting new rear in this vec,everything has been replaced but now the axle is starting to make a clunking noise i have heard that this year of forester had problems but only after mine started to act up any ideas on what can solve this problem

Mastercheck fluid level in rear differential. When you check it use a clean dipstick or something similiar to pull some fluid out. If you see metal flakes on dipstick the differential could be going, or the fluid could be low and just fill it up.

MasterI've seen rear wheel bearing problems but not rear differential problems. Agree with previous answer get the oil hot drain it into a clean pan, inspect for debris refill with fresh GL5 80/90W
