Went to replace trans filter and it came off in just 1 turn. Previous owner jury rigged gasket so filter would just go on, end of threads stripped. Need to replace threaded pipe fitting that threads in the side of the transmission that the filter screws on to. Cannot find part number or scrap dealer that has one, not able to find on Delco's trans parts list. Thanks

2001 Saturn SL Question: HAVE TO REPLACE PIPE FITTING THAT CONNECTS THE TRANS AND THE SCREW ON FILTER

I looked all over the internet and couldnt find one as well. I know you said you checked with the scrape dealer but i think the junk yard may be your only chance. Usually the threaded part you see has threads on both sides. It can be removed with a large socket. You will need a socket that has the hex at the very end of socket. If you use one that bevals in before the hex it will strip the hex on the threaded filter part. Sorry if this sounds confusing.

Thanks, I got the part out without any problems, I want to have at least 4 good threads on the filter before I put it back, thinking about machining a 1/8 inch alum washer to bring out the the filter threads a little more. Can't believe I cannot find the part #

Try cleanig up the threads now that you got it out. You can use a file that fits in the groves of the threads or a hacksaw blade. No this dosnt make me a hack.
