Came from the wrecker with near new rear struts off a 1997 camry---is the complete assembly interchangeable into a 1996 camry? Two guys at the wrecking yard disagreed, now I'm unsure and don't want to pull the (96)car apart until I know the struts off of the 97 will fit.

Look on a parts website like www.rockauto.com see if the shocks, and top mount plate is the same number for both years.

The struts are the same part number from 96 to 97 Camry V6. It should work without a problem.
