vehicle has 250,000 mls. runs well, one owner , oil change every 3,000 . main seal leaks a little oil and a/c has slow leak but great vehicle. the day the diagnostic code P0125 illuminated the check engine light it was an unusual ambient temp near freezing. Checked codes and the only one was the P0125. I erased code and checked levels and specific gravity and was good.

Change thermostat. Also if it continues, test the ECT, and IAT,

I agree to change thermostat and if it persist I should check the resistance of ECT and IAT. I cleared the code and no further engine light response.

Yes and make sure they are reading the proper ambient temp. Usually do this after it has sat overnight and engine is ambient as well. Resistance should be charted as to OHM's verses temp range.
