I have 2002 hyundai xg350L with 118K miles on it. Runs perfect. Recently I have all the dashboard lights on. The brake, TCS (ABS) lights on and when they are on, the speedometer doesn't work. There is no problem with the car. It runs good. But thats the only problem and a mechanic whom I showed the car couldn't find the problem even after he connected it to the computer. It doesn't happen all the time but happens at the wish of the car. It runs normally sometimes. i am having the problem since 2 days! Someone told me there could be a problem with alternator. If so, is there any way that the alternator repaired or I should only replpace it at any cost?

Speedometer input is needed for emission testing,ABS, traction control and transmission controls. IO suspect the vehicle speed sensor has failed and is responsible for all the other warning light being illuminated as it is shared by many systems. Retrieve codes stored in the computer by using a scan tool it will be the first place to start.Hyundai as a car manufacturer put a lot of free technical information and workshop manuals on line for Hyundai owners. Check out www.hmaservice.com lots of great information.

Thank you very much for your reply! I went to a mechanic today and he worked on it for an hour. He did not figure out! So if it is a sensor problem, how much is it going to take for me to get it repaired? Someone told me that it would be an alternator problem. Please reply!
