grinding noise on 1995 Buick LeSabre

car has started making grinding noises and slight smell of steam but no actual water that i can see

Suspect the water pump failing. Grab the water pump pulley and see if it wobbles, indicating a failed bearing, or listen closely while the engine is running, to locate the noise.
