The tire and loading information label on the driver's side door frame may be inaccurate. A misprinted label could lead to overloading of the vehicle, which could possibly lead to tire failure and a crash. Owners will be provided with corrected labels and installation instructions. At customers' request, a dealer can install the label for them. The recall began March 31, 2006. The GM recall number is 05109.
GMC Yukon XL 1500 Recalls
The wiring to the fuel pump may overheat, which may cause multiple concerns. The fuse for the pump may blow, which will prevent the vehicle from starting and running. A check engine light may come on from connector damage. Fuel may leak out of the connector body and create a fire hazard. Dealers will remove the fuel tank and remove the module reservoir assemblies from the fuel tank, and install a new service kit.
On vehicles equipped with the Bosch hydraulic brake booster, the boost pressure accumulator may crack and break away from the hydro-boost assembly during normal operation. If this were to happen while the hood is open, fragments from the accumulator could injure people standing in the immediate area. The loss of fluid while driving would cause increased steering and braking effort and a crash could occur without warning. Dealers will test the hydro-boost assembly for function of the two-function valve. If the hydro-boost assembly fails the test, it will be replaced free of charge. The recall began March 23, 2005. The GM recall number is 05006.
707 vehicles may have a missing brake pedal push rod retainer. If the retainer is missing, the brake pedal could disengage from the booster push rod. This could result in loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the affected vehicles and install a push rod retainer if necessary. General Motors will begin contacting owners by telephone on March 10, 2005. The General Motors recall number is 05039.
Under certain conditions, the shift lever position indicator located in the instrument cluster may not illuminate. If the indicator does not illuminate, the driver may not know which gear the vehicle is in. This could result in the vehicle moving in an unintended direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will reprogram the instrument panel cluster to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin on February 14, 2005. The General Motors recall number is 05023.
The hydraulic pump that controls power steering and in some cases hydro-boost power brakes may experience a fracture of its driveshaft. If this shaft breaks, power steering assist will cease immediately and hydro-boost brake power will also cease following depletion of stored reserve pressure. An increase in steering and brake effort may cause an accident. Dealers will replace the hydraulic pump.
The engine fuel rail crossover tube retainer screws may not have been manufactured to specifications and can break. If the retainer screws break, fuel could leak from the crossover joint. As a result, the engine may stall. Additionally, any fuel leak increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will inspect the fuel rail crossover tube and if necessary replace the retainer screws. Owners were contacted by telephone beginning July 30, 2004. The General Motors recall number is 04066.
The hydro-boost housing relief valve bore may be out of specification. The seal may fracture as a result, which may reduce braking assist and slightly increase the steering effort while braking. Under certain conditions, more braking effort will be required to stop the vehicle. Dealers will replace the hydro-boost relief valve. The recall began June 18, 2004. The GM recall number is 04004.
In 30 degree left angle frontal crash conditions with a severe enough impact, the fuel tank may be punctured by a torn mid-frame cross member. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire. Dealers will install a fuel tank shield. The recall began February 20, 2003. The GM recall number is 03002.
