Glow Plug Replacement
Glow plugs are part of a diesel engine starting system. They add intense heat to the combustion chamber to help start the engine when it is cold.
How to Replace a Glow Plug
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal
- Remove any parts of the induction system that may block access to the glow plug
- Disconnect the glow plug electrical connector
- Unscrew the glow plug from the cylinder head
- Install and properly torque the new glow plug
- Connect the glow plug connector and negative battery terminal
- Clear all codes and download any software updates and/or adaptions
- Start the engine several times to verify the repair
