2000 BMW 323i Question: getting codes that caytalytic converter issue.

 Rookie

have had one machanic say he can take it apart and clen it and reseal for $500. if I have it removed and a punch a hole down the middle of it and replace will it regester as good? open to any suggestions.

    if its a catt issue you need to repl no punch out center that will make things worse. who ever told you to do that or it can be resealed needs to stick to oil changes

    FYI It is illegal to remove the catalyst from the converter and both the shop that does it and the owner of the vehicle and be fined up to $10,000 and 1 year in jail.
