1996 Toyota 4Runner Q&A

1996 Toyota 4Runner Question: Geting the fuel pump to run

when the EFI sends a signal to the cor Does it go to the computer first be fore starting th fuel pump ??? -
Answer 1
Yes it does but ECM failure is the very last thing to suspect if pump is not working. Check fuses and pump relay, under hood in fuse/relay center,if ok check for power/ground at pump if present while cranking eng. replace fuel pump. Pump startes as engine starts to turn over not with key just turned on. -

Does check engine light come on with key on? Will it communicate with a scanner? If you have a wiring schematic you should be in good shape. Find out where power supply to pump should be. If you need ECM try salvage yard just make sure it has the same runnung gear. Take old computer with you where ever you try to get one if that is what it comes down to. -

Willy, the EFI does not send any signal anywhere...check for 12V going to your fuel pump...12V=bad pump; 0V=check fuse and relay. . . . "My EfI Checks out ok Not geting any signal in or out of COR. Instaled new pump Have a Ground & Sending units power But no incoming power" AHA! then try checking your fuel pump fuse and relay. . . . And what are you calling a "cor"??? -
