I asked the Guys @ German Auto about the poor ratings they had received from "Trick" and "Sookie" and they said: They stated that customer
"Trick" had never been in their shop before and that they had found out that this person had made poor ratings for multiple shops in town within a period of 1/2 hour. Regarding person "Sookie" They stated that there had been a serious miscommunication problem with the customer "Sookie" and that the problem was resolved some time ago, As they have made a refund to the customer. I've been taking my vehicles to German Auto in Santa Maria for over 14 years. I have never felt they were over charging for any work and I've received quality services and repairs. I would highly recommend them to anyone I know.Flag ThisLike | 4 people like this4 - German Auto Santa Maria

Same experience as the other reviewer. What I originally took my car in to have repaired was not fixed instead G.A. focused on what I said "MAY" need replacing and decided to replace that part and some other parts in and around that area even though I wasn’t having a problem associated with that part or area nor was it the reason I took the car into them in the first place. The majority of those parts they replaced were Very Very EXPENSIVE (I asked for and got my replaced parts back and all looked brand new). After getting the car back and realizing they hadn't fixed the main problem I took the car back in and told them the original problem still existed. G.A. did a re-diagnoses and told me this would be a separate repair job from what they just did and emphasized they weren’t charging me for the re-diagonses and said it would be another large amount to fix (This was same issue I had originally taken the car in for that they didn’t fix). I took the car in to another mechanic about the original issue. They also said another part looked like it needed repaired, but come to find out from the other mechanic and after I'd looked up my info it actually had already been repaired and didn't need fixing! The other mechanic was very thorough and said there was still a problem in the area G.A. supposedly just fixed and have them re-fix it. I took the car back to G.A. and told them I had another mechanic look at the car and that they said the area they worked on still had a problem and it needed to be fixed. G.A. again made a point of emphasizing they weren't charging me for the diagnostics of this problem and said that this was a “new” problem which has nothing to do with the work they just but at the same time stated that they stand behind their work and they weren’t going to charge me. The second mechanic was more up front, honest, cheaper and explained the work and parts before replacing. When I asked G.A. why they replaced these parts when they looked like new G.A. just said they don’t always look at the condition of the parts if their in an area that is not easily accessed they automatically replace all the parts located in there. What a rip-off! Live and learn, I should have used the second shop, first! Advice, make sure you get everything YOU say about the problem down in writing, ask questions, and always ask for your replaced parts back.

Very, very expensive and they will replace all parts around part that needs to be replaced, adding heavily to their already high prices. The work appears to be good though. There are other shops in Santa Maria that can do the work they do for far less and not as intensive.
