Geo Maintenance Procedures - Common Additional Services

Geo Automatic Transmission Fluid/Filter Change

Automatic transmission fluid becomes heat fatigued and accumulates moisture over time which can lead to automatic transmission damage if not serviced regularly. The filter should be replaced at this time a well. This service should be performed every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Geo Manual Transmission Fluid Change

The Manual Transmission fluid breaks down and becomes contaminated with moisture over time and can lead to transmission damage from a lack of proper lubrication. It should be replaced every 2 years or 30,000 miles.

Geo Scheduled Maintenance Parts

In order to run, the engine needs a precise mixture of fuel and air. When outside air is drawn into the engine, the air filter prevents harmful dirt and debris from entering the system.
Brake fluid is a specially formulated fluid that transmits the pressure generated by the master cylinder to the calipers and/or wheel cylinders when the brake pedal is pressed.
Coolant is the fluid that flows through the engine’s cooling system. Its main purpose is to transfer heat generated by the engine to the radiator so the engine doesn’t overheat.
Engine oil provides lubrication for all internal moving parts of an engine. It also helps conduct heat away from these components.
The fuel filter removes contaminants from the fuel, which helps prevent damage to the fuel system components.
The oil drain plug gasket seals the oil drain plug where it connects to the oil pan.
The engine oil filter removes contaminants from the engine oil before it circulates throughout the engine.
The spark plug uses the energy produced by the ignition coil to generate the spark necessary to ignite the air/fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.
The rubber timing belt connects the camshaft to the crankshaft of the engine. It helps the crankshaft drive the camshaft.

I don't know a lot about cars so my level of information is just what the mechanic relayed to me.
I have replaced the "exhaust system" twice w/in the past 2 years. I was going 70 and had to pull over b/c again something was hanging from the bottom of the car. Did I get ripped off or is it common to have this type of maintenance this often?
