1994 Buick LeSabre Q&A
1994 Buick LeSabre Question: gears
Brake light switch input and sufficient battery voltage is required to operate a solenoid that allows the shift lever to be taken out of park. Turn the ignition switch on, press the brake pedal, do the brake lights work? If the switch has failed, brake light fuse has blown or circuit wring has an open circuit the car won't come out of park. Cars have some provision to get the car out of park in case the battery goes dead and the car needs to be towed. I will send you off line an article I wrote that I hope may help. - patrick mannion
