Hi, The ignition starts correctly, but the gear shifter cannot be moved easily to Reverse or Drive. It is stuck in Park. Unlike other similar questions posted, the gear shift in my car does move from Park after some effort. I have figured how to jiggle the gear shifter to get it out of park in ~10 seconds, but sometimes it takes a lot more effort. Based on answers to other similar problems, I have already checked that my brake lights are working. Any other ideas? Thanks AJK

The Brake Shift Interlock Solenoid may be sticking. This is not uncommon if coffee or soda has been spilled into the shifter. Sometimes the shifter assembly can be removed and washed under warm water to remove the sticky residue. In other cases the shifter or Interlock Solenoid must be replaced.
