Question: Gear Box Fault car appears to be driving in high gear only

Rookie
Car appears to down shift hard and and slowly increase in speed. It appears to be in 4th gear on when driving. In reverse it appears to be normal for am few seconds then a hard shift.
Gear Box Fault is flashing in the message area.
