Question: gas hand not working right

my gas hand goes up and down and i can never tell how much gas is in the tank how can i fix this

    This may be a bad fuel level sensing unit, fuel gauge or a bad electrical connection between the two. There is one other possibility, the level sensor is dirty. The first thing I recommend is to use a bottle of Chevron Techron Concentrate in the fuel tank, this additive will clean the level sensor and possibly fix this problem, and for only $15.00 or so.
    Just make sure it is this exact type, others wont clean the sensor. http://bit.ly/Techron_Concentrate
