2006 Audi A4 Quattro Q&A

2006 Audi A4 Quattro Question: Full gas tank

When i fill the gas tank the car is hard to start. You have give it gas and crank it 5 to 10 seconds to get it started. Then it runs rough for a few seconds and then is fine until you fill it again. -
Answer 1
Are you 'topping off' meaning trying to squeeze in every last drop? If so, that can flood the Carbon Canister with fuel and then flood the Engine. If you are then don't 'top off', it can damage your fuel system and EVAP system. Otherwise, have your engine scanned for codes and inspect the data stream while starting after a fill up, a shop will have the scan tools for this. You may have a defective EVAP component that is letting fuel into your engine at the wrong time. -
Answer 2
Had this problem recently. It was the purge valve. A $18 part through your VW dealer or online, don't get ripped at Audi, it's exactly the same part number and part. very easy to fix, 15mins even for a novice as it has easy access. -
Answer 3
You most likely have a bad EVAP purge valve. It is stuck open and sucking fuel into the engine. The N80 purge valve is easy to replace and is such a common failure that Audi has reduced the price. Check the price at dealer before buying an aftermarket part. -
