I replaced the old one, replaced the replacement and now this one left me stranded after a fill up. Car had kind of fluttered 2 or 3 times on way to work but then ran well. Pulled pump, plugged in all connections, ran fine, tried again it would not, tried several times today it ran every time. Is not stopped up with debris. What could be causing this issue. Car sat for 3 or 4 years before I bought it. Has 1.6 engine that runs great when its running. replaced the TPS sensor and checked the MAF..I think it is ok. I am at my wits end. Help please.

MasterHow about the fuel filter?...or maybe it is not the fuel system after all...

InspectorVol, November 24, 2012, 09:50Rookieon my 2nd fuel filter as well. i know it was the pump because i disconnected the filter and no fuel was pumped through the line. Have replaced the two lines coming from the tank to the metal lines attached to the body. Pump just quit or quits. One I can understand being bad and replacing it, but having to put 3 new ones in? Something it causing the pump to quit, but what?

InspectorVol, November 24, 2012, 20:36ReplyRookieI am just going to bypass the whole pump wiring system and run a new hot wire from the pump fuse to the pump and then run a new ground to the body. If it quits then I know it is something else. Pump has been running fine out of the tank. I will know in a few days if not by tomorrow.
