Question: fuel pump

what are the symptons of a bad fuel pump, when i start my car a rumble noise comes from the right hand fron side and it doesnt start just makes that noise/ thank you also if it is the fuel pump how much will a mechanc charge me, like a estimate. thanks

    When you say right hand side, do you mean passenger side. If in fact you are talking about the front passenger side of the engine it sounds like you are talking about possiblely the timing belt slapping. When have you changed your timing belt last. Of course this is just a guess.

    Fuel pump is in the gas tank in the rear.
