Filled car with $6.00 gas and now shows full and the check engine light is now on. Went to Auto Zone, that maybe I needed a new gas cap if the check engine light comes on again. On 2/2/09 I put gas at Chevron and 2/3/09 check engine light came on again. I think, bad gas!

At this point you should have the codes checked to determine why the check engine light is on.

The fuel level sensor is mounted in the fuel level sensor unit. The sensor detects a fuel level in the fuel tank and transmits a signal to the ECM.It consists of two parts, one is mechanical float and the other side is variable resistor. Fuel level sensor output voltage changes depending on the movement of the fuel mechanical float.Us a scan tool and check for DTC P1460,p1461,p1463,or P1464 FUEL LEVEL SENSOR if one of these dtc are presant replace the Fuel level sensor It is in the fuel tank. It is part of the fuel pump unit. remove the rear seat bottom and you will see a cover with 3 screws under the cover is the fuel pump. I suggest replace the unit insted of just the sensor. when you get it apart you will understand why. that should take care of your CEL and fuel level on your dash
