fuel guage mal function on 1993 Acura Vigor

our fuel gage never goes past 1/2 full and we never know how much gas is in it. is it a simple problem to fix and how much would it cost to get it fixed

This could be a malfunction or failure of the fuel sending unit, which is what measures the level of the gas tank. If it's not working properly, the gauge won't give you the right information. It seems like these failures are more common than the gauge itself. I'm not sure what it would cost if this is the problem.

you might want to check the float on the fuel pump. It could have something blocking it from floating up all the way
