Question: fuel guage is erratic

The gas guage fluctuates and reads empty when there is gas in the tank. the truck has 160,000 miles

    your most likely to have a faulty tank sending unit. these trucks had problems with the gauge cluster but i think that didnt start till 2003.

    thanks, probably the fuel pump should be replaced, right?
