1997 Oldsmobile Regency Q&A

1997 Oldsmobile Regency Question: Fuel Gauge not working

The fuel gauge on my 97 Regency does not read properly. Sometimes it will read a full tank and other times it will be empty when I know it has a full tank. Is this a common problem and if so how would i go about fixing this? I've been told it could be a fuse or a loose wire. Any help would be great! -

Either the fuel level sensor, fuel gauge or the wiring/connectors are malfunctioning, hard to say without a diagnosis. The first thing I would do is add a bottle of Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus to the fuel tank and drive it. I have fixed several erratic fuel gauge issues with this stuff. It cleans the fuel level sensor in the tank, give it a shot, it's a very inexpensive repair and it will also help to clean the injectors and valves as well. -

Bret, my gauge does not work either on my 81 chevy pick up but do you think that also a seafoam bottle will work as well instead of the chevron techron bottle?. carlos cheguevara778@gmail.com -
