Question: fuel filter repair

I was told I need a brand new fuel filter replaced in my car. The cost would be around 700 dollars. Anything cheaper?

    Way out of line the filter is only about $30 and should take way less than an hour to replace. It is located under the hood, driver side, lower firewall, mounted below brake master cylinder. For $700 there must be a lot more than a fuel filter!!
