fuel filter problem on 1991 Volkswagen Jetta

changed fuel filter now i can't get it to start how do i fix this problem

This can take more than 1/2 hour of cranking to get the fuel pressure to fill up the fuel filter. It is a design that needs improvement. Be careful not to run down your Battery,.

there should be a 10 mm screw on top of the filter. remove that screw and fill the filter with fuel.its a pain and you wont think its going in but get as much fuel in there as possible.
