Is it really necessary to depressurize the fuel system just to replace the fuel filter if I just put a rag over the lines before I disconnect it?

Carefully disconnecting the fuel filter with a rag over the lines should be OK. Please be careful if you decide to do this on your 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan, it is possible to get quite a fuel spray when disconnecting the fuel filter in this fashion.

Thanks, Oakman! I did get it off there this morning doing just that, but there wasn't any pressure to speak of. I think because the fuel pump isn't working at all now, that's why there wasn't ANY pressure on the lines. I'm getting ready to put the new filter on and drop the tank to go after the fuel pump. Any tips for dropping that tank and disconnecting that pump from both the fuel lines and any other connectors would be welcomed!!
