I own a 1997 BMW 740i and I took my car to the shop to get only the front drivers side wheel fixed because it wobbles shakes when I get to about 45 mph. They wanted to charge me $1,600.00 to align the front end suspension. I told them that I was on SSI a fixed income and I can only pay for one side at a time. I told them that the passenger front side does not wobble and it did not need fixing, I don`t understand why would they want to fix something that don`t need fixing? What they worked on was they removed and replaced the center link. Removed and replaced right front outer tie rod end for $826.75. And they would charge me $1,426.80 just for fixing the front passenger side. What I don`t understand is why would they removed and replaced the center link and removed and replaced the right front outer tie rod end, and not remove and replace the right/front lower control arm and not remove and replace the right/front radius lower arm, and they expected that my wheel would not wobble, it wobbled worse after completing that half ass job. I would be very thankful if you could give me an estimate to repair only the front driver’s side wheel alignment. And is it fair to only remove and replace the center link and removed and replaced the right front outer tie rod end without removing and replacing the right/front lower control arm and not removing and replacing the right/front radius lower arm. Should all these parts be replaced together and not just the two parts they replaced?? If you have any information on the law of a shops standard the way alignments are supposed to follow. I would be much appreciated if you could send me any information pertaining alignments.
Thank you
Dennis Lewis
