A freeze plug is a metal plug that is pressed into the engine block, it needs to be removed and a new plug pressed into the block. The difficulty can come in accessing the plug, you may need to remove many components to get to the plug that is leaking. Once the plug is removed, you need to clean the hole very good and it has to be absolutely clean before installing the new plug. You can use a little permatex to help seal it as well, but it will need to sit overnight to cure properly.
