had the same problem for me it was a vacumm hose to desconnect it there is a vacumm hose under your battery plate undo it and it will go to two wheel drive

Check the selector switch on the dash first, then Look on the back side of the transfercase. you will find 2 switchs. These switchs engages and disengages the front axle and the transfer case.
