Question: found plastic "plug" in Trans Pan

Question

Visitor, 6 Cylinder, Cupertino, CA, June 15, 2010, 16:47

When changing my Trans fluid/filter for the first time ever, original owner, I found a plastic "plug" type item in my Trans.pan, best description:
It's yellow in color, half dome shape (apx the size of a dime) with a hole in middle of dome with a flat bottom (in hole) there is a rubber O-ring around the dome the bottom of this dome is flat with a "stem" apx 1" long stem is round, I have looked many times can't find any location in which this would fit.
first I thought it was a plug to stop ATF from leaking out from dipstick tube during shipment but it will not fit.

itis a factory plug that is installed when assembledto keep from leaking in the assembly line. they install the dipstick tube and push the plug into the pan.

that's what I though, but it doesn't fit in the bottom of the dip stick tube there is a black piece of plastic at the end of the tube. but maybe I was just over looked the location, cause it will not go any where else.
Hey thanks Roy for your answer, it is greatly appreciated
