This could compromise safety to the occupant in a crash. Dealers will replace the front seat belt buckles.

Ford has recalled 2000 Excursion, Taurus, and Mercury Sable vehicles for a concern with the headlight switch knob. The knob may fracture and detach from the headlight switch, which can make it difficult for the driver to employ the headlights. Dealers will replace the knob.
Ford has recalled certain 2000-2001 Taurus and Mercury Sable vehicles for a possible problem with the brake light switch. Grease from the adjustable pedal assembly could contaminate the brake light switch and cause it not to function. Brake lights could stay on, or not function at all, creating a safety issue. Dealers will replace the brake light switch and clean off grease from the adjustable pedal assembly.
Ford has recalled 2000-2001 Taurus vehicles with an spoiler mounted LED center high mounted stop lamp for an issue with proper illumination. Illumination may occur without applying the brake pedal. Also, the shift interlock may not function, causing the shifter not to require brake pedal application to get the vehicle out of "Park." These are both safety issues that can put the vehicle occupants in danger. Dealers will install a jumper and resistor assembly at the spoiler.

Ford has recalled certain 1986-1995 Taurus and Mercury Sable models and 1988-1994 Lincoln Continental models in high corrosion, cold weather states because the rear subframe mount plate nuts may corrode and fail, causing the subframe to drop. If the subframe drops, loss of vehicle control and functionality can occur. Dealers will install subframe rear mount bolts, reinforcement plates, and plate nuts.
Ford has recalled certain 1999 Taurus and Mercury Sable vehicles equipped with California emissions for replacement of an incorrect transmission cooler line. The cooler line could rub against the anti-lock brake system module support bracket, causing a possible fluid leak and fire hazard. Dealers will install the appropriate cooler line.
