These vehicles have been recalled because their interior door handles may fail to return to their stowed position after use. In the event of a side impact, the door may unlatch, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will inspect all four interior door handles and either repair or replace them free of charge.
Ford Taurus Recalls
In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention clip may not have been properly installed. As a result, without prior warning the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving. This would result in loss of engine power to the drive wheels. Dealers will inspect the vehicles to make sure that the halfshaft is properly retained. If it is not, dealers will replace the linkshaft and also replace the halfshaft if it shows evidence of spline damage.
As a result of water intrusion, the license plate lamp assembly may experience corrosion in states where road salt us used to de-ice the roads. This corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the license plate lamp assembly to correct this concern. Note: Under program 14R01, Ford will notify owners in non-corrosion states, and, at the customer's request, dealers will replace the license plate lamp assembly.
The rear doors on these vehicles are equipped with child safety locks that prevent the doors from being opened from the inside when engaged. As the rear doors are opened and closed, one or both child safety locks may switch from engaged to disengaged without warning. With the child lock disengaged, a door could be opened accidentally, increasing the risk of injury to an unrestrained occupant. Dealers will test the safety locks and replace those not meeting the testing standard.
The fuel delivery module, which is located at the fuel tank, can crack, resulting in a fuel leak. Any fuel leak always increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel delivery module in the affected vehicles to correct this concern.
During the manufacturing process, the side seam of the fuel tank may not have been properly sealed and as a result, the fuel tank would be weakened and not perform as expected in the event of a crash. In addition, a fuel leak could develop at any time. Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and replace it as necessary on vehicles included in this recall.

Ford recalls 2006 E150, E250, E350 Escape, Expedition, F150, Ranger, Taurus, Lincoln Navigator, Mercury Mariner, and Mercury Mountaineer due to a possible lack of lubricant on the wiper motor output shaft gear.
