Dealers will check the power steering control module (PSCM) for any trouble codes and replace the steering gear for vehicles that have codes relevant to the concern stored. For vehicles located in cold weather states where road salt and other contaminants may be present on the road, the mounting bolts for the power steering gear motor may corrode and break. As a result the motor could detach from the steering gear. This would result in a loss of power steering assistance, and make turning the steering wheel more difficult than usual. Dealers will apply sealer to prevent corrosion, and will replace affected bolts as necessary.

A component within a door latch can break making the doors difficult to latch when closed. This could cause the driver and/or passenger to believe their door is secure when it is not. A door that is not latched properly could open unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of personal injury and property damage. Dealers will replace all four door latches free of charge to correct this concern.

The engine management system may detect an improper exhaust gas temperature reading, causing the engine to shut down into a safe mode. The dealer will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software free of charge to correct the problem.

This can cause the corresponding door to unlatch, especially in a crash. Ford will inspect each inside door handle, and either repair or replace them free of charge to correct the problem.

These vehicles are being recalled because their upper seat belt mounts were improperly installed, resulting in an unsafe condition during a crash. Mounts were fastened to the car without enough torque, and these can become loose over time. Dealers will replace the original seatbelt fasteners install the new ones with proper torque.
