On vehicles modified for use with wheel chairs, the wheel chair platform side plates may crack, causing the platform to separate from the wheel chair lift. This may cause injury to an occupant or lift operator.
For vehicles modified for use with wheel chairs by Mobility Works: The wheel chair lift platform mounts could fail, resulting in the lift platform falling out of the vehicle when the doors are opened. This could cause severe injury.
A seam of the fuel tank may develop a fuel leak, due to excessive corrosion from exposure to road salt. This could cause a fire hazard, as well as a fuel odor.
The front and rear seat belts and child seat tether anchors equipped in the vehicles may have been damaged prior to being installed to the vehicle. This could prevent the secure use of the safety belts and tether during driving.
The fuel tank may have been manufactured without sufficient thickness in the tank walls. This could result in the tank fracturing and leaking fuel in an accident, causing a fire hazard.
When using the adaptive cruise control feature, the vehicle may falsely detect an obstacle in its path and may unexpectedly apply the brakes. This would increase risk of a crash.
During a previous recall campaign, brackets were installed to secure the rear axle. These may have been installed incorrectly, resulting in a continued risk that the rear axle may fracture. If the rear axle fractures, vehicle handling would be affected and there would be an increased risk of a crash.
For vehicles that have had a replacement Ford remanufactured automatic transmission installed, the shift lever bolt may not be properly tightened. This can result in the shift lever disengaging from the transmission, making it impossible to know the proper gear selected, nor put the vehicle into park to secure it.
The bolts that secure the fuel tank to the vehicle may not be tightened properly. This could result in the fuel tank separating from the vehicle. A fuel leak could result, which is a fire hazard.
The parking brake may not fully engage as intended when it is applied. This could result in the vehicle rolling away.
