Ford has recalled certain 1991 Explorer vehicles because a front heat shield could be contacting the fuel tank. The heat shield could rub on the tank and cause a leak. Dealers will relocate the heat shield and inspect the tanks for damage and wear.

Ford has recalled certain 1991 Explorer vehicles because the weld mounting the vapor vent valve to the top of the fuel tank could fracture, causing the vapor leak. Fuel vapor leaks could lead to a fire. Dealers will remove the fuel tank and inspect it for integrity. If the weld is found to be inadequate, the tank will be replaced.
