Ford has recalled certain 1990-1992 Taurus, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln Continental vehicles in cold weather, high corrosion states to replace the brake rotors. The original rotors on the vehicle can easily corrode and separate, causing a potential braking safety issue. Dealers will replace the front rotors with full cast iron rotors.
Ford has recalled certain 1992 Taurus and Mercury Sable station wagons for an issue with the liftgate latch mechanism. In some cases, the secondary liftgate latch will not operate, which may cause the liftgate to open without operator action. If the liftgate opens without operator action, cargo or occupants may fall out. Dealers will replace the liftgate latch.
Ford has recalled certain 1991 Explorer vehicles because a front heat shield could be contacting the fuel tank. The heat shield could rub on the tank and cause a leak. Dealers will relocate the heat shield and inspect the tanks for damage and wear.
Ford has recalled certain 1991 Explorer vehicles because the weld mounting the vapor vent valve to the top of the fuel tank could fracture, causing the vapor leak. Fuel vapor leaks could lead to a fire. Dealers will remove the fuel tank and inspect it for integrity. If the weld is found to be inadequate, the tank will be replaced.
Ford has recalled certain 1991 Explorer vehicles for a possible issue with the rear bumper support. In some cases, the support could crack, resulting in a potential detachment of the bumper, which could cause injury. Dealers will install two brackets to secure the bumper reinforcement.
