Ford Focus Repair and Maintenance
A guide to problems, costs, maintenance and repair for your Ford Focus
Ford Focus Problems
The rear driverside door would not stay shut. We tried everything but the latch would not latch. We ended up taking it to our mechanic and he had to replace the entire latch mechanism. This should never happen considering that this door is hardly used and the car only has 37000 miles on it.
In areas of high corrosion rear wheel bearings tend to fail. Ford agreed to replace these failed bearings at no cost. This program was to expire on December 31, 2002. Our technicians tell us it is unlikely Ford will replace any more of these failed bearings free of charge.
Ford Focus Questions
Engine light off but has been on twice over 6 months. Was going to get spark plugs and wires done today but I understand may also need coil, etc. I am floored when I see costs paid for these things around $200! I am broke but need a car...anything I can do myself to cut down prices?
This happens literally every time I stop for a stoplight or stop sign, or go through a drive-through, etc. It doesn't seem to have any negative affect on my car (that I can tell) or my ability to drive.
In fact, the place I normally take my car to get looked at/fixed said that other Ford Fo...
Ford Focus Recalls
Certain Focus vehicles equipped with HID headlights are being recalled because the front side marker lights may not function. The vehicle will be less visible in nighttime conditions without the illumination of the side maker lights, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will modify the headlamp wiring to correct this concern.
The left rear door lock assembly was not manufactured correctly and as a result, the child lock may not engage properly. When the child lock is not engaged, the door can be opened from the inside, increasing the risk of injury to an unrestrained child. Dealers will inspect the the left rear door latch and replace it as necessary.
A seal in the wiring harness connector to the passenger side wiper motor may be missing. As a result, water or other contaminates may enter the connector, causing intermittent and/or complete failure of the passenger side windshield wiper motor. Reduced visibility caused by failure of the passenger wiper motor can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect, and if necessary, clean and properly seal the electrical connector for the passenger side windshield wiper motor. Any inoperative motors will be replaced. The Ford recall number is 12S29.
Ford Focus Reviews
I have a 2003 ford focus zx3 and bought it brand new. I would not recommend this car to anybody, ford made these cars cheaply and they are severely flawed. My car is almost 8 years old and only has 81,252 miles on it because i cant keep it running long to put very many miles on it. and repairs are costly. Not and ideal car for some one looking for something cost efficiant. My list of repairs ar...
Has anyone report an unsual increase in miles on the odometer
My dad has a 2005 Focus and I absolutely hate that car. It's cheaply made and stuff is always going wrong on it. The steering has never been right and the brakes squeak like crazy. The dealership checks them every time, and I'm sure they've been replaced, but insists there is nothing wrong with them. They are so loud you can't drive with the windows down and I always wear sun glasses in his...
