The Ford Motor Company is the second largest automaker in the US and is headquartered just outside Detroit in Dearborn Michigan. It was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford, who pioneered use of the large scale assembly line manufacturing method. Ford makes sedans, SUVs and trucks for the domestic and global markets including best-sellers like the Taurus sedan and F-series pickups. In 2015 Ford sold 2.6 million vehicles, making them the 5th largest automaker globally.
Ford is the second largest family owned company in the world. The very first Ford was sold in 1903 for $850. Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were great friends. Ford had a sealed tube of Edison’s last breath that he kept as a memorial.
