The Vehicle May Roll Without Warning
Nineteen vehicles have been recalled because the transmission may not properly engage in "Park." This could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash.
This is a high priority recall. Until you know your vehicle is not affected, make sure to use your parking brake and verify that it is functioning correctly. For more information, contact your Ford dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you as to what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The park rod guide retention pin may not have been properly installed in nineteen vehicles. These vehicles may not properly engage the transmission in the "Park" position. If this occurs and the parking brake is not set, unintended vehicle movement may result, increasing the risk of a crash. This recall is expected to begin by May 28, 2010. The Ford recall number is 10C12.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
FORD IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 FUSION, MILAN, AND ESCAPE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 27, THROUGH MARCH 26, 2010. THE PARK ROD GUIDE RETENTION PIN MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY INSTALLED WHICH FAILS TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 114, "THEFT PROTECTION AND ROLLAWAY PREVENTION".
A VEHICLE PARKED WITHOUT AN ENGAGED PARK PAWL AND WITHOUT AN APPLIED PARKING BRAKE MAY HAVE UNINTENDED MOVEMENT WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH.
FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 28, 2010.
