Ford has recalled 2003 Excursion and F150, F250, and F350 trucks because the speed control deactivation switch may leak and overheat, which can create a fire hazard. Dealers will install a fused wiring harness to the deactivation switch wiring.
2003 Ford F-350 Super Duty Recalls
On trucks equipped with the 6.0L diesel engine, the engine ground stud for the negative battery cable may be loose. A loose ground may cause current to flow through the radio suppression strap causing it to heat up, and potentially melt or ignite nearby components, which could lead to a fire. Dealers will replace the engine ground stud and the radio suppression strap, and nearby components will be inspected for damage. The recall began July 23, 2004. The Ford recall number is 04S15.
The courtesy lamps on affected running boards may overheat when exposed to moisture and road salt. Overheating may cause the lamps and boards to melt or start a fire. Dealers will replace the wiring harness for these running boards.
