Ford has recalled 1990 F-Super Duty trucks and F-Super Duty Motor Home chassis because of the hydroboost steering gear return line plumbing. On certain vehicles, due to the routing of the return line, the hydroboost may stay engaged lightly, which may cause added brake wear and tear. Dealers will replace the return line and repair damaged brake components.

Summary: INTERCONNECTION OF RETURN LINE PLUMBING FROM HYDROBOOST STEERING GEAR MAY CAUSE LIGHT APPLICATION OF HYDROBOOST UNIT WITHOUT APPLYING BRAKE PEDAL.
Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN DRAGGING BRAKES, BRAKE FADE, OR PREMATURE WEAR AND/OR HEAT DAMAGE TO BRAKE SYSTEM COMPONENTS, REDUCING BRAKING EFFICIENCY WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
Remedy: INSTALL REVISED RETURN LINES AND REPLACE DAMAGED BRAKE SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
